Alfred Hooper Obituary

Alfred James Hooper (aka “Jim”), passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 with his family at his side.

Jim was born on July 29, 1941 in Manitowoc, WI to Helen (Zimmer) & Emanuel G. Hooper. After graduating from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1959 he went on to attend Lakeland College and graduated with a BS Degree in Business Management. After graduating, Jim then went to run his father’s business Hooper Music and Marine in Manitowoc and eventually retired from Grey Iron Foundry. Jim earned his blackbelt in Tae Kwan Do and also taught Tae Kwan Do at the Manitowoc YMCA. He was also a member for many years of Ducks Unlimited and was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed going fishing with friends and family. Jim was a man few people could forget; his sense of humor was contagious and his love for his family was immeasurable.

Jim is survived by three brothers: Richard, Jack & Mark; one sister: Kay; his children: Jennifer (Gerald), Heidi (Chad), Todd, Emmanuel (Manny) & Theresa (Terry); eight grandchildren: Eric, Corey, Brittany, Desiree, Gerald, JR, Ashland & Ian; five great-grandchildren Jazmine, Marqus, Mason, Melody & Cameron. Jim was preceded in death by his parents: Emanuel & Helen; one infant brother: Emanuel; one great-granddaughter: Breanna Marie; and one nephew: Jacob Steeber.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Manitowoc Masonic Lodge from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. A Masonic Funeral Service will take place at noon. The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements. His family wishes to thank all of the medical personnel at the Bay in Manitowoc for guiding us through the past 18-month journey. You all will have a special place in our hearts. Special thanks to Kendra, Lori, Mia of the Bay and Courtney Chrysler from St. Vincents in Green Bay.
