Ann Mae Bruechert, 94, of Manitowoc passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Harbor View Assisted Living surrounded by her family.
Ann was born on August 4, 1931 in Melnick, WI to the late William and Anna (Valenta) Bohacek. She attended schools in Gibson and Melnick, graduating from Mishicot High School. On August 5, 1950, she married the love of her life, Earl J. Bruechert. For 71 years, they walked side by side through all of life’s adventures. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2022. Through the years, Ann worked as a CNA for various medical facilities in Manitowoc as well as in Florida. She had a compassionate, gentle demeanor that comforted everyone in her care.
Ann was a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great grandma, her family was her pride and joy. She was a musician at heart and loved calling her family on their special day, to play happy birthday on her harmonica. Ann was very active, making sure she exercised daily. Her kind gentle spirit was felt by everyone who had the opportunity to meet her. Ann’s poise, grace and smile radiated in each room she walked in. Our beautiful mother made this world a better place, she will be greatly missed and live forever in all of our hearts.
Ann is survived by her children: Bonnie (Robin) Bowen, Manitowoc, Randy (Sandi) Bruechert, Manitowoc, Jeff (Susan) Bruechert, Mercersburg, PA, and Rick (Beth) Bruechert, Manitowoc; grandchildren: Craig (Tina), Holly, Missy (Eric), Chad (significant other Jen), Jody (Jacob), Katie (significant other Bryan) , Wendy, Kathrine (Waide), Amber, Caleb (Karina), and Kaine (fiancé Ashley); and great- grandchildren: Lauren, Shae, Jake, Freddie, Alexis, Rachel, Brayden, Brantley, Braxton, Connor, Felicia, Macen, Rylie, Kannon, Lucas, and Amelia. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ann was preceded in death by her parents: William and Anna Bohacek; her husband: Earl Bruechert, daughter: Wendy Ann; grandson: Zachary Bruechert; brother and sisters: Raymond (Elaine) Bohacek, Helen (Leslie) Skarivoda, Evelyn (Vic) Shusta, and Clara (Alvin) Hagenow; father-in-law and mother-in-law: John and Adeline Bruechert; and sister-in-law: Ethel (John) Spooner.
A memorial service to celebrate Ann’s life will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 12:00 pm at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S.14th Street. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Ann’s wish was to have her cremated remains buried at Calvary Cemetery next to her infant daughter Wendy Ann.
