Anna Luella Muench, age 101 of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, August 23, 2022, with her loving family at her side.
The former Luella Hill was born on July 10, 1921, in the town of Franklin, to the late Frank and Margaret (Lemberger) Hill. She grew up in the town of Franklin and was married to Richard C. Muench Sr. on May 6, 1941, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Whitelaw. In 1960 the couple purchased Haupt’s Tavern in Alverno and changed the name to Muench’s Supper Club. In 1989 the couple sold the business and started wintering in Arizona. Richard preceded her in death on March 8, 1999.
Luella was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Parish, Newton. She was a former member of the Two Rivers Lioness Club and was active in bowling and dart ball in the Manitowoc area. Luella loved to cook and bake and was well known for her home-made kneecaps, kolaches and dinner rolls.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Gary (Marlene) Muench, Wisconsin Rapids, Gene (Judy) Muench, Two Rivers; one daughter and two sons-in-law: Linda (Art) Sayward, Mesa, AZ, Elroy Ringmeier, Two Rivers; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; special friend: Rita Muench, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Margaret Hill; her husband: Richard Muench Sr.; her daughter: Janice Ringmeier; her son: Richard Muench Jr.; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Ray Hill, LeRoy (Georgiana) Hill; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Marion (John) Mayerl, Shirley (Willy) Denk; five brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Louis (Agnes) Muench, Oscar Muench, Bernard (Lydia) Muench, Norbert (Margaret) Muench, Walter (Dorothy) Muench; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Agnes (Clarence) Kocian, Lucille (Ruebin) Marshburn.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2022, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Rd, Newton. The Rev. David Beaudry will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to follow at the Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
