Anna Mae Cornils Obituary

Anna Mae Cornils, 95, of Manitowoc passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at St. Mary’s Home.

Anna Mae was born on September 13, 1929 in Cato, WI to John and Mary (Strauss) Pritzl. She attended St. Mary’s School in Clark Mills. On October 24, 1953 she married Roger Cornils at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clark Mills. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2021. Anna Mae was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother and enjoyed working at Book and Gift Shop.

Anna Mae was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where she attended mass faithfully at the grand site. She was a member of St. Theresa Society, where she served as president, and also the St. Clare Society. She spent countless hours volunteering at Peter’s Pantry, the Civic Center, and St. Mary’s Home. Anna Mae was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her roses, and cherished time spent with her family, and loved being called “GiGi” by her great-grandchildren.

Anna Mae is survived by her children: Pattie (Michael) Wellner, Dan (Joyce) Cornils, Todd Cornils (John Simmons), and Heather (Rick) Skrepenski; grandchildren: Kari (Curt) Marquardt, Kate (Luke) Kiel, Valerie Raatz, Rachel (Jeremy) Brinker, Harper (special friend Alex Richmond) Skrepenski, and Marina (Daniel) Koppa; great-grandchildren: Penelope Marquardt, Sullivan Marquardt, Ansel Kiel, Odin Kiel, Poe Kiel, Kaylan Raatz, Levi Brinker, Eden Brinker, Bristol Dietrich, Crue Koppa, and Everlee Koppa; sisters and brothers: Eunice Beilke, Monica Herzog, Paul Pritzl, Edward (Ann) Pritzl, Donald (Joyce) Pritzl, Kathryn (Ronald) Kupski, and Suzanne Zimmerman; and brother-in-law: David Brouchard.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents: John and Mary Pritz; husband: Roger Cornils; infant son: Tristan Cornils; grandson: Dylan Hayes; brothers and sisters: Othmar (Laura) Pritzl, Irene (Joseph) Oswald, Augatha (Edward) Leist, John Pritzl, Jr., Norbert (Rita) Pritzl, Marie (Bernard) Schermetzler, and Jeraldine Brouchard; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Edward and Adelia Cornils; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Robert Herzog, LeRoy Beilke, Howard Zimmerman, Violet Pritzl, and Charles Cornils.

A memorial service to celebrate Anna Mae’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church-Grand Site, 1416 Grand Ave., with Rev. Doug LeCaptain officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum.
