Anthony P. Backus

Anthony P. Backus, age 71, of Manitowoc, died early Saturday morning, March 15, 2025, with his wife by his side, at home.

Anthony was born on October 6, 1953, in Manitowoc, a son of the late Robert and Gertrude (Hoyer) Backus. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Anthony served in the U.S. Army Reserves and National Guard from 1972 to 1985. On February 27, 1998, he married Linda Jaeger. Tony was a machine operator at Medusa Cement, Greatwood Log Homes and Miller Manufacturing, retiring in 2004. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed keeping up with things around the house, cooking, especially BBQ and playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife: Linda Backus; children: Connie (Mike) Rohr of Milwaukee, Jeremy Backus of Green Bay, Alicia Backus of Oshkosh and Grace Jaeger of Manitowoc; daughter-in-law: Alison Backus of Manitowoc and numerous grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters: Don (Mary Jane) Backus, Tom Backus, Jerry (Judy) Backus, Dick Backus, Diane (Jerry) Wagner, Chuck (Barb) Backus, Cheryl (Todd) Terp and Carol (Kelly) Christianson; sisters-in-law: Lori Backus, Nelly Backus and Donna (Paul) Behnke; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a son: Robert Backus, two brothers: Bill Backus and Lee Backus; and a sister-in-law: Lindy Backus.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Lakeshore Family Funeral Home, Pfeffer location, 928 S. 14th St., Manitowoc, Wis. Military honors will be accorded by members on Amvets Post #99 of Manitowoc immediately following the service.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday morning, March 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
