Barbara Saindon Obituary

Barbara Joan Saindon, age 71, an Appleton resident, formerly of Manitowoc, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton.

Barbara was born December 30, 1949, in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the fifth of eight children, daughter of the late Edward L. Krupski and Ann (Augustine) Krupski. Barbara attended Sacred Heart Catholic parochial elementary school and Woodrow Wilson Junior High School in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1968. Barbara was selected to sing a solo at her high school graduation. Barbara was married to Stephen A. Saindon at Sacred Heart Church in Manitowoc, on April 24, 1971. They proceeded to Madison, WI where she encouraged her husband to finish his college education. Barbara was employed with Mirro Aluminum, Manitowoc, WI; Manchester Department Store Warehouse, Madison, WI; St. Mary Hospital, Madison, WI; Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Elmurst, IL; Home Savings and Loan, Appleton, WI; and held the National Certification as an Electrocardiogram Technician at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, WI for 15 years. Barbara was a loving wife and mother, and in her later years a loving grandmother and parttime mother to her two grandchildren.

Barbara shared her gifts of time and voice with many organizations including: the NEW Voices Choir (formerly White Heron Chorale) for 36 years, St. Thomas More Catholic Church and choir in Appleton, and St. Bernadette Catholic Church and Kindred/Renewed Spirits choirs in Appleton for 30 years. She served as a proud volunteer over the years helping with fundraising and office assistance for the White Heron Chorale, supporting the local homeless shelter, baking for various fundraisers, and assisting her son’s and grandson’s Cub and Boy Scout troops over the years.

Barbara loved life and created many memorable moments along the way. Music was incredibly important to her beginning in her high school chorus, where she was given special attention in vocal training. This education carried into her singing in the church choirs at Sacred Heart and Holy Innocents in Manitowoc, singing with her husband in Christian Community Singers, Inc. in Manitowoc from 1980-1985, and singing in the church choirs at St. Bernadette, St. Pius X, and St. Thomas More in Appleton. She also shared her vocal talents with local chorus groups including the Lakeshore Community Chorus in Manitowoc and singing and serving with NEW Voices Choir (formerly White Heron Chorale) for 36 years. Barbara enjoyed many trips to American Players Theater in Spring Green nearly every summer, sometimes two or three trips, usually with friends or family, especially with special friends. She looked forward to visiting Orchard Farm and staying with close friends in their wonderful home in the middle of the orchard, and taking special trips together, including many nature walks. Barbara also enjoyed the annual fall trips to Birds in Art at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, since 1989, with a stop at Nueske’s meat factory store in Wittenberg, sometimes visiting Rib Mountain, often with friends. She appreciated a summer day or weekend trip to Door County, especially Northern Sky (formerly American Folklore Theater, previously Heritage Ensemble), Birch Creek Music Performance Center, Peninsula Players Theater, Door Shakespeare, and visiting various art and craft studios. She attended the Metropolitan Opera’s live streamed performances at the local theater with close friends. Social ties were special to her, she cherished her moments spent at the Krupski and Saindon family gatherings, especially in holidays seasons, outings with her two grandchildren, and Bible studies with her lady friends or husband. She loved to cook and bake until various health issues limited her. Barbara took pride tending to their home. She was always giving special attention to planting and tending to flowers and birds in her yard, especially the large round garden surrounded by rocks in the front yard, for which she received many compliments.

Family members include: her husband: Stephen A. (Steve) Saindon (50 years as of April 24th, 2021) and their children and their spouses: Sharon Ann Saint Don (formerly Saindon), in Port Townsend Washington, who is a jewelry maker and nature lover; Katherine Ann, deceased at birth; Matthew Joseph Saindon in Kimberly, Wisconsin, with grandson Bryce and granddaughter Sydney, whom Barbara especially loved and helped raise extensively, with special love and appreciation for Matthew’s current fiancé Nicole Ostrowski and her family.
