Bruce H. Fiedler

Bruce Herman Fiedler was born on March 29, 1931 in Prescott, WI and entered the gates of heaven March 16, 2017 at his home at the age of 85. Bruce was the oldest son of Lester Brackin and Gwendolyn Martha (Stolt) Fiedler. When his father lost his banking job in 1941, Lester purchased a hardware business and moved the family to Osseo, WI. Bruceattended Osseo -Fairchild High School and was on the basketball team. It was there that he met his future wife, Hope Gunem. Bruce graduated in 1949. Bruce attended UW-River Falls after high school. He enlisted in the army and served honorably for two years. He repaired radar equipment during his service. When he returned from service, he attended college on the GI Bill and completed his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis. He married Hope Estelle Gunem on November 26, 1955 and together they welcomed six children. He moved his family to Milwaukee, WI in 1958, when he accepted a job at Allis Chalmers. In 1968, he began working for Gilson Brothers and moved his family to Plymouth, WI. During his successful engineering career he was honored with multiple patents He was blessed to have 30 years of retirement. Bruce was a faithful servant of our Lord and Savior. He led and taught his family by example and insured that his children learned and followed the Christian faith. He was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Plymouth and served in many capacities over the years. Bruce was not only a devoted husband and father, he was an incredible son to his parents and also a devoted nephew to Florence Fiedler; helping to care for them as they aged. Bruce was happiest when his family was near and there was a motor running nearby. He provided his children with many modes of transportation from back yard roller coasters, motor carts, bike trailers,mini bikes and cars too numerous to mention. His blue school bus conversion allowed his family to travel to places such as Seattle, Florida and Virginia. Even the bus break downs and time spent on the side of the road provided life-long memories for his children. On one side of the road occasion, the children adopted the John Denver song, "Country Road Take Me Home" as a theme song. Dad, that road has finally taken you home. Bruce is survived by Hope, his wife of 61 years. His surviving children are: Randy (Pam) of Plymouth, Lon (Elizabeth) of St. Paul, MN, Lori (Jack) McCauley of Germantown, WI, Shelley (Michael) McMullen of Green Bay, WI, Lee of Denmark, WI. 15 grandchildren; Bradley Fiedler, Shawn Fiedler, April Fiedler, Gabrielle (Chris) Miller, Michelle Fiedler, Gilbert Fiedler, Megan (Tyler) Brownfield, Molly (Paul) Vara, SadieMcCauley, Johnny McCauley, Kevin (Jamie) McMullen, Eric McMullen, Michael McMullen, Hope McMullen, and Jessica McMullen. Bruce also leaves behind 9 great-grandchildren: Sophia Fiedler, Brackin & Thea Miller, Addison & Ava Brownfield, Lyla Vara, Bruce, Miles and Theodore McMullen. He is also survived by his special brother, Ross (Yvonne) He is further survived by in-laws Janice Gunem, Elenore Gunem, Inez Abraham, Fred Holland and Lyman Gunem and by numerous nieces and nephews and Ivars (Kay) VonGuris, whom he considered as a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gwendolyn Fiedler, his sister Francis Fay Fiedler and his daughter, Lynn Louise. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Omer Gunem, sister-in-law Beatrice Holland, his uncle Clarence Stolt and aunts Eileen Stolt and Florence Fiedler. A funeral service for Bruce will be held 2 PM, Monday, March 20 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Casey Sugden, pastor, as officiant. Burial will be in the Osseo Cemetery, Osseo, WI. Family and friends may gather at Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Service, 123 South St. Plymouth on Sunday, March 19 from 5 PM until 7 PM and at the church, 1808 Eastern Ave., Plymouth on Monday from 1 PM until the time of service at 2 PM. Memorials in Bruces name may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
