Carol Jean Rusch, 70, of Plymouth passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at her home after a brief battle with liver cancer.
Carol was born on January 10, 1954 in Port Washington to Ted C. Sr. and Grace (Masek) Block. Carol attended Random Lake Elementary School and graduated from Random Lake High School in 1972. On August 10, 1974, she was united in marriage to Roy Rusch, son of Edward and Marian (Weisner) Rusch at St. Patrick’s Church in Adell. Carol worked at Amity Leather, West Bend Co., and Allen-Edmonds Shoe Corp. When her children were young, she did in house sales for Creative Circle and Tupperware. Carol took over operation of “Good Tymes Inn” in Random Lake in 1987. After closing the tavern in 1996, she worked briefly at Midway Mart in Random Lake. Then in June 1997, she started working at Walmart, first in Saukville, then transferred to the new Plymouth store in 2002. Carol retired in 2019.
Carol loved crafts, such as cross-stitch, crocheting, and especially quilting. She gifted many quilts to family and friends over the years.
Carol is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years: Roy; children: Adam (Lindsay Danis) Rusch, Lindsey (Scott) Cleveland, and Katie (Kevin) Veach; and grandchildren: Ryan Anholt-Rusch, Tyler, Nathaniel, and Annika Rusch, Gracie and Sadie Cleveland, and Lillian, Trinity and Leland Veach. She is also survived by brothers: Ted C. Jr. (Joan) Block, Carl (Audrey) Block, and Jim (Kim) Block; sister: Jane (the late Mark) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews; countless friends from Walmart and Good Tymes Inn; and dear friend, Amy Henschel and her son Braydon. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; sister: Marie (the late Michael) Wood; and nephew: Michael Block.
A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 7:00 pm at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Random Lake. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 4:00 pm to the time of service at 7:00 pm.
