Carol Rose (Wetenkamp) Schlei-Zigmund

Carol Rose Schlei-Zigmund, 92, of Manitowoc entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Whitetail Estates surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on November 8, 1933 to Blanche and Herbert Wetenkamp. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School. In May of 1955, she married William “Bill” Schlei, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, together they had four children. He preceded her in death in August of 1996. On January 16, 1998, she married Jerome “Jerry” Zigmund, he preceded her in death on October 6, 2025. Carol was employed by Sears, JC Penney’s, was an administrative assistant at Holy Family and ended her working career as a receptionist for Anesthesia Associates until her retirement. Carol enjoyed being snowbirds in Florida as well as spending time at their cottage in Townsend in the summer.

Carol is survived by her children: Debbie (Partner Mark Wilda) Reynolds, Bill (Partner Stephanie Redner) Schlei, Ron (Ann) Schlei, and Bruce (Barbara) Schlei; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents: Blanche and Herbert Wetenkamp; her husbands: William “Bill” Schlei and Jerome “Jerry” Zigmund; brother: Earl (Barbara) Wetenkamp; and sister: Betty Larson.

A memorial service to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Calvary Mausoleum Chapel, 2601 S. 14th Street, with Deacon Al Boeldt officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Calvary Mausoleum Chapel, from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
