Carole M. Weld, age 100, of Two Rivers passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.
Carole was born June 19, 1924 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Harold and Rose (Spaeth) LaFond. She was a graduate of Washington High School with the class of 1942. Carole continued her education at the then Holy Family School of Nursing graduating as a Registered Nurse. On June 8, 1946 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dr. Stephen L. Weld in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1992.
Carole was the dear mother of Stephen (Tammy Koxlien) Weld, Kaye (Paul) Michaels, and Laurie (Dr. John) Gommermann; the proud grandmother of nine: Elizabeth (Kyle) Christensen, Stephanie Weld Beck, Rebecca (Gordon) Hall, Scott (Lauren) Michaels, Ryan (Ashley) Michaels, Lara (David) Herzog, Luke (Amy) Gommermann, Eric (Stephanie) Gommermann, and Jason (Christine) Weld; and the loving great-grandma of 16: Anna, Cameron, Lydia, Owen, Nyah, Isaac, Everett, Greta, Malia, Lainey, Keira, Erin, Baker, Ev, Hannah, and Liam.
Carole was a proud life-long 100-year resident of Two Rivers. She also enjoyed life as an annual winter snowbird in Stuart, FL for more than 40 years. Carole was an avid golfer into her 90’s, who also loved to read and complete daily crossword puzzles. She was a spirited Wisconsin sports fan following the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers regularly and watched Hallmark movies nightly. Bridge, cribbage, gin, and bingo were also favorite activities. Carole treated herself daily to a glass of wine and a Hershey’s chocolate kiss.
Carole was a past member of the Manitowoc County Medical Auxiliary, Ladies of St. Peter the Fisherman (Holy Redeemer), and many local golf leagues and bridge groups.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband: Dr. Stephen L. Weld; her parents: Harold and Rose LaFond; and her brother: Robert (Jacqueline Beitzel) LaFond. She is further survived by her sister: Norma (Benny) Bonfigt; nephew: Allen (Sarah) Bonfigt; niece: Lisa (Randy) Frey; and former daughter-in-law: Margaret Melrose.

Cremation has taken place, and Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Carole will be laid to rest next to her husband Dr. Stephen Weld at Forest View Cemetery in Two Rivers following the service.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carole’s memory to the Two Rivers Historical Society, Lester Public Library, Rogers Street Fishing Village, Woodland Dunes, or the Van der Brohe Arboretum.
