Carolyn M. Cerkas, age 84, of Manitowoc passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at The Bay at North Ridge, Manitowoc.
Carolyn was born November 13, 1938 in Sturgeon Bay, daughter of the late Leslie and Jeanette (Tallman) Long. She was a graduate of Brussels High School with the Class of 1956. On November 7, 1959, she married Joseph G. Cerkas, Jr. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay.
Carolyn enjoyed fishing with her husband at the cottage at Little Sturgeon Bay, crocheting, reading, tending the fire pit at the cottage and watching the Packers play.
Survivors include her children: Laura Cerkas-Koralewsky, Manitowoc; Eileen Cerkas, Manitowoc; Rochelle (Paul) Cerkas-Byers, Holland, MI; daughter-in-law: Connie Cerkas, Manitowoc; “Adopted” daughter: Kerrie Morton, New Richland, MN; grandchildren: Jennifer (Clark) Dittbenner, Catherine (Mike) Bosch, Amy Cerkas, Joseph R. (Debra) Cerkas; eight great-grandchildren: Sanoa, Zachary, Liam, Gabriel, Khloe, Johnathan, Alice (Allie), Leah; one brother: Roland Long, OK; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Leslie & Jeanette Long, her husband Joseph G. Cerkas, Jr., one son Gerald Cerkas, a sister and brother-in-law Judith & Milton “George” Lauscher, one brother James Long and a special Aunt and Uncle Mervin & Aneva Arkens.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Pfeffer Funeral Home (928 South 14th Street), Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Deacon Al Boeldt. Carolyn will be laid to rest next to her husband Joseph at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc at a later time.
The family will greet friends and relatives on Monday, August 28, 2023, at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
