Cheryl A. Basken

It is with sadness that we announce the recent peaceful passing of Cheryl Ann (Katzka) Basken of Francis Creek, WI.  

Born to Marty and June Katzka in October of 1950, Cheryl was raised with six siblings in Francis Creek.  She was educated through eighth grade at Saint Anne's in Francis Creek and graduated in 1968 from Mishicot High School.  She married Ronald Basken in 1972.  They built their forever home north of Francis Creek where they raised their two children, Kelly and Brian.  Cheryl retired in 2013 from Manitowoc County.

Cheryl excelled at downhill skiing, and she enjoyed needlework and word puzzles.  She was a fan of all Mishicot and Wisconsin sports.  You could often find her at one of her favorite places, White Potato Lake.  Above all, she enjoyed time with her family, especially her six grandchildren.

Survivors include her spouse Ron Basken, daughter Kelly (Jamey) Boucher of Green Bay, son Brian (Melissa) Basken of Francis Creek, and grandchildren Aiden, Brianna, Claire, Ella, Nora, and Henry.  Survivors also include siblings Dick (Joyce) Katzka, Joan Hutterer, Dan (Denise) Katzka, Dennis (Karen) Katzka, and Kay (Todd) Kohlmeier and sister-in-law Joyce Wilfert.  She was preceded in death by her parents Marty and June Katzka, her father and mother-in-law Henry and Bess Basken, sister Jean Hassemer, brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph Hassemer, John Hutterer, Lester Basken, Chester and Dorothy Pech, and James Wilfert and nephews Chris Katzka and Steve Hutterer.  

Please join the family in celebrating Cheryl on Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at Saint Anne's Catholic Church in Francis Creek. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 2:00pm until the time of service at 4:00pm.
