Dale Krueger Obituary

Dale J. Krueger, age 90, of Manitowoc passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers Wisconsin.

Dale was born on July 19, 1931 in Appleton Wisconsin, son of the late George Sr. and Angeline (Severson) Krueger.  He was a graduate of Appleton Senior High School with the class of 1949.  He went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in engineering.   After graduation, he fulfilled his military service under the ROTC program at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha Nebraska.  Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he returned to Wisconsin and worked as a mechanical engineer for Manitowoc Cranes until his retirement.   On October 11, 1975 he was united in marriage to the former Mary O’Malley at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.

He was the treasurer for the church beginning in the 1960’s and later was in charge of the finances for the church trustees.  Dale also joined the Kiwanis Club of Manitowoc in his retirement.  He also was a school leader for the Kiwanis K-Kids program at Jackson School for many years.

Dale was an avid sports fan and watched the Milwaukee Brewers or listened on his back porch to them on the radio.  Another pastime was his life-long hobby of model railroading that began in his high school years.  His hobby led him to belonging to two model railroading clubs locally and completing a full operation layout in his basement.   His expertise landed him model train contest awards over the years.  Dale and Mary enjoyed many organized bus or train trips in their retirement years and were fortunate to see many parts of our country.   Dale took great pride in his lawn using his riding tractor and worked with his wife Mary on their garden for many years and in later years the annual flower planting in spring.

Survivors include his wife: Mary Krueger, Manitowoc, two sons: Paul Krueger, Manitowoc, Matthew (Anna) Krueger, Aiken, S.C.; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: Kathleen Mitchell, Decatur, GA; David & Joan O’Malley, Tipton, IN; George & Kathy O’Malley, Kenosha, WI as well as nieces, nephews: Kathy Fass, Windsor, WI, Jim & Lori Krueger, Appleton, WI, Gary & Edie Krueger, Stanley, WI, Brian (Lori Caygill) Krueger, Madison, WI, Dave & Mary DeBraal, Appleton, WI, Duane & Debbie Dougherty, Menasha, WI.  He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr and Angeline Krueger and brother and sister-in-law, George Jr and Lois Krueger.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on January 20th, 2022 at the Lakeshore United Methodist Church, Manitowoc.  Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Cherie Forret with an entombment to take place following services at Calvary Chapel Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
