David Moore Obituary

David Lewis Moore, 87, of Manitowoc passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at Magnolia Meadows.

David was born on November 7, 1934 in Stanley, WI to the late John D. and Borghild (Follien) Moore. David attended school in Valders and graduated from Valders High School in 1953.  On June 4, 1977 he married Diann Skarda at Silver Lake College Chapel in Manitowoc. He served his country in the United States Army from 1957-1959, stationed in Germany. David then followed his father and uncle and grandfather and began his employment as an operator with the Soo Line Railroad in Rhinelander, Manitowoc, Neenah and Fond Du Lac, as well as other stations. He retired from the Canadian Pacific Railroad in November of 1993.

David was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He enjoyed meeting his fellow employees at the Rusty Rails in Neenah for their monthly meetings, and meeting in Wisconsin Dells a couple times a year and in Medford each year for the picnic. David enjoyed traveling to England, Germany, Canada, Hawaii and many other bus tours in the states.

David is survived by his wife of 44 years: Diann; sister: Sherrill Riebe; brother: Dennis (Rogene) Moore; step brother: Dennis (Cathy) Alfson; step sisters-in-law: Caroline Alfson, Delores Alfson; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Karen Tisler, and Barb (Dan) Ebert. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Borghild Moore, step mother: Catherine Moore; brothers-in-law: Donald Riebe, Lawrence Alfson, Raymond Alfson, and Robert Tisler.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi, Grand site, 1416 Grand Ave., with Rev. Ben Johnson officiating. Relatives and friends will greet the family on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Entombment will take place at Calvary Mausoleum.
