Donald Allwardt Obituary

Donald C. Allwardt, age 84, of Port Washington went to be with his lord on Wednesday, September 6 at the Harbor Campus Assisted Living Center in Port Washington. He was born on November 23, 1932 in Waldo, the son of the late Leon and Betty (Craig) Allwardt. He graduated from Waldo High School. On April 24, 1954 he married Gladys Kramer at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Donald worked at Simplicity until his retirement. After retirement he worked part time at the Ozaukee County Justice Center for nine years. Donald was an avid walker, bike rider, and gardener. He took great pride in the many trees and shrubs he had planted throughout his yard.  He also enjoyed the frequent conversations with his McDonalds coffee group. Donald and Gladys share many memories boating and snowmobiling at their mobile home in Shawano. He will be greatly missed by so many. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gladys; a daughter, Linda Allwardt of Rhinelander; a son, Steve of Port Washington; a granddaughter, Alison (Patrick Treleven) Stefonek of Blanchardville, WI; a sister, Jeanie Pflager of Plymouth; and a brother, Daniel (Johnella) Allwardt of Chicago. Along with his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, John, and James and a brother-in-law Bill Pflager. A memorial service for Donald will be held at 3 PM on Monday, September 11 at Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Russell Hurst officiating. Inurnment will take place in Waldo Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home, 123 South St., Plymouth, from 1 PM until the time of the service at 3 PM. A memorial fund has been established in Donald's name for the Alzheimer's Association. The Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
