Donald P. “Don” Schisel, age 69 of Cato passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 22, 2021 at home surrounded by the family he loved after having caught and cleaned his daily limit of fish earlier that morning.
Don was born on November 4, 1951 in Manitowoc, son of the late Orie and Margaret (Mangin) Schisel. He attended schools in Whitelaw and Valders graduating with the class of 1970 from Valders High School. On August 28, 1976 Don married the former Janelle Bergene at Faith Lutheran Church in Valders. He loved spending time and working on projects with his son and grandchildren.
Don is survived by his wife: Janelle Schisel, Cato; one son and daughter-in-law: Travis Donald (Tiana) Schisel, Cato; one daughter: Kari Rose Schisel, Whitelaw; three grandsons: Donald “DJ”, Kolten and Westen; six sisters and four brothers-in-law: Darlene Bergene, Manitowoc, Patricia Christianson, Manitowoc, Judith (Roland) Kania, Manitowoc, Marie (Dwight) Faber, Manitowoc, Barbara (Randy) Schmitt, Manitowoc, Margaret “Peggy” (Rick) Halverson, Valders; one brother and sister-in-law: David (Debbie) Schisel, Collins; five sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law: Carol Pagels, Mishicot, Ronnie Bergene, Manitowoc, Linda (Richard) Menza, Reedsville, Sharon (Larry) Satori, Manitowoc, Connie Hedler, Manitowoc, Mary Bergene, Manitowoc, Randy Bergene, Valders, Mike Bergene, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Orie and Margaret Schisel; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Albert and Eleanor Bergene; one brother: Richard “Dick” Schisel; five brothers and two sisters-in-law: Wayne Bratz, Howard Drews, Jerry Bergene, Ron Hedler, Keith Bergene, Shirley Bergene, Marcia Bergene.

Don’s family and neighbors would like to thank Don for always making time for conversation, a good joke, and helping them with any projects they needed. He always had a solution. He will be missed by many.
