Doris R. Bruckschen, age 90, of Manitowoc, went to her eternal home in Heaven on Monday morning, January 3, 2022 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.
Doris was born on June 28, 1931 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late William and Ella (Dill) Grosshuesch. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School class of 1949. Doris worked for the Manitowoc Board of Education prior to her marriage. On September 12, 1953 Doris married Elroy H. Bruckschen at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in the town of Newton. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1994. Doris and Elroy worked the family farm in the town of Newton until his illness forced retirement in 1980. Doris was a lifetime member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church and was active in the Ladies Aid, Choir and Family Bible Study group. She was a talented writer and enjoyed writing poems for family birthdays and other occasions. Doris was a member of the Angel Association and did volunteer work at Manitowoc Health Care Center in her retirement years. She enjoyed playing piano and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law: James E. (Elaine) Bruckschen, Manitowoc, Mark J. (Deb) Bruckschen, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Shari (Peter) Pfankuch, Crivitz; six grandchildren: Julie (Justin) Krupski, Sara (Nate) Hoffmann, Lisa (Curtis) Landry, Christi (Jake) Shuppe, Stephanie (Joseph) Winland, John Pfankuch; ten great-grandchildren: Harrison, Levi and Miles Krupski, Emelia, Andrew and Caleb Hoffmann, Calvin and Elise Landry, Max and Lucas Winland; one brother-in-law: George Specht, Elkhart Lake, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Ella Grosshuesch; her husband: Elroy H. Bruckschen; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Calvin (Hilda) Grosshuesch, Paul (Erma) Grosshuesch; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Esther (Harvey) Voss, Dolores Specht, Gertrude (Herb) Kiesow, Elenor (Athniel “A.B.”) Stuebbe; sister-in-law: Kathryn (Schmitz) Grosshuesch; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Alice (Harold) Schnell and Anita (Harold) Fehrmann.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, 6524 County Road C, Newton. Rev. Kyle Sorensen will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
