Dr. Richard L. Sell has died on Monday, November 15, 2021at his residence in Manitowoc, WI, at the age of 94.
He was born February 28, 1927, in Stevens Point, WI, to the late Alfred and Gladys (Lewis) Sell.
He graduated in 1945 from Lincoln High School in Eau Claire, WI. After high school Richard served in the United States Army during World War II as a radio operator and corps bugler, 20th Corp, 288th Engineers 3rd Army. After his service to our country, Richard then continued his education at UW Superior and then on to Marquette University Dental School, graduating in 1953.
On August 8, 1953, Richard married the love of his life, Bonita M. Bloch at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Together they established the Dental Park Group at 926 S 8th Street and later at 602 N 9th Street in Manitowoc.
Richard was a member of First Lutheran Church, Jr Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce, Manitowoc Public Library Board, Rotary Club, Elks Club, and the VFW.
Richard enjoyed many years at Boot Lake with family and friends. He also enjoyed the special hunting trips to the cabin in Glidden, WI, known as the Peaksville Hunting Cabin.
Richard is survived by his granddaughters, Lindsay (Bradley) VanderVeen and Lauren (Robert) Entwistle; a son-in-law, Darrin Davey; three great-granddaughters, Caroline, Charlotte and Olivia; all of Elkhorn, WI., one brother, Frederick (Veronica) Sell, Wasilla, Alaska; and many special nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 68 years, Bonita; his son, Rick; his daughter, Susan; and his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth (William) Berger.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. Burial of his cremated remains will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery. Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes of Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
