Edward L. Wiehr

Edward L. Wiehr, 80 of the town of Greenbush passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.

Ed was born on February 7, 1943, a son to the late Edgar and Eloise (Peters) Wiehr.  He attended schools in Plymouth and following high school joined the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam era.  On February 15, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jean Gannon in Marmora New Jersey.  They resided in Plymouth until moving to the Town of Greenbush in 1974.  Jean preceded him in death on January 1, 2010.  Ed was a steamfitter and worked in various locations for various industries as his job required.  Ed was an active man who enjoyed a variety of talents, woodworking, leatherwork and gardening.  He also enjoyed model railroading, hunting and fly fishing. 

Ed is survived by his three children, Darren Wiehr of Sheboygan Falls, Leslie Wiehr of Dodge Center, MN and Jason Wiehr (special friend Kelly Chapman) of Greenbush;  grandsons, Alex Urner and Brian Prening, Jr.; his brothers and sisters, Carol Miller of Plymouth, Bill (Sharon) Wiehr of Sheboygan, Larry (Barbara) Wiehr of Terrebone, OR, Marlene (Roger) Lensmire of Plymouth and Margaret Halle of Plymouth.  Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends further survive.  In addition to his wife, Jean he was preceded in death by an infant son, Dion Wiehr.

A Memorial Service for Ed will be held at 3 pm, Saturday, September 16 at Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Service in Plymouth with Rev. James Hoppert officiating. Military rites will be accorded following the service.  Burial of his cremains will take place at a later date in the Greenbush Cemetery.  Family and friends may gather at the funeral home, 123 South St. Plymouth on Saturday from 1 pm until the time of service at 3 pm.

Ed’s family would like to extend their gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the various medical personnel that cared for him through  his illness, especially those at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
