Elizabeth "Betty" Ebert Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Ebert, age 90, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2022.

Betty was born April 5, 1932, in the township of Maple Grove to the late John and Rosalia (Pritzl) Kocourek. She graduated in 1950 from Reedsville High School. Betty married Jerome Ebert on June 2, 1954, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Reedsville. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1995.

Betty was a Real Estate Agent in Manitowoc County for many years, being one of the first female Licensed Real Estate Brokers in the county. She was an active member of the Manitowoc County Board of Realtors for many years, beginning in 1972, and was beloved by her many clients. She served as Director of the Board for 11 years and served on many committees of the Board. In 1993, she was chosen by her peers for the coveted award of “Realtor of the Year.” She was a GRI and CRS Graduate. In 2012, she received the Emeritus Award from the Wisconsin Real Estate Board for 40 years of service. She retired in 2017 At the age of 85. In her free time, Betty loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and also traveling.

She is survived by two daughters and one son in law: Diane (Terry) Berry of Bend, OR, and Jacquelyn LaPean of Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Jerome LaPean and special friend Ally Jeffery, Manitowoc, Kate (Nate) Lyman, Livermore, CA, Nicole LaPean, Manitowoc, Ryan (Leah) Berry, Sunriver, OR and Meghan Berry, Livemore, CA; six great grandchildren: Sabrina and Isabelle Lyman, Richard and Meledy LaPean, Brystal Wiltman and Espen Berry. Betty is further survived by one brother: Elroy Kocourek, four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Dorothy Ebert, Jeannette Sheahan, Patty (Jim) Reindl, Diana Ebert; two step grandsons: Shannon (Sunny) Berry and Cavan (Jenny) Berry and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. For the past 24 years, Betty was fortunate to have enjoyed the companionship of a very dear friend, Clarence (Butch) Gates, who survives her as well. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws: Andrew and Loretta (Schaumburek) Ebert, brothers, and sisters: Leonard (Evelyn) Kocourek, Roman (Peggy) Kocourek, Clarence (Mildred) Kocourek, John (Arlene) Kocourek, Harold (LaVerne) Kocourek, Lester (Dorothy) Kocourek, Ralph (Ethel) Kocourek, Sally (Charles) Vondracheck, Marie (Joe) Anhalt, and Rosemary (Norbert) Meidl. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Kenneth Ebert, Germaine (Charles) Biely, Marian (Fritz)Haelfrisch, Andrew (Sonny) Ebert, Jr., Genrose (Donald)Bartels, Anna Marie (Ken) Kasianowicz, Loretta (Hank) Sheahan, Clara Ebert, John Sheahan.

In accordance with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place at the All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 24, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Waldo 1121 N.14th St, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Doug LeCaptain, with burial of her cremated remains to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in her name.
