Elroy J. Nienhaus, age 78 of Menchalville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at his residence.
Elroy was born on August 17, 1945 in Manitowoc, son of the late Ellsworth and Elaine (Spatchek) Nienhaus. He attended the Menchalville School, St. Joseph’s Grade School and was a 1964 graduate of Reedsville High School. On November 15, 1968 he married the former Karen J. Leist at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Over the years Elroy worked at the Rockwood Lime Company, Streu Construction, James Cape & Sons Construction and various other companies. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #139, retiring in 2000. Following his retirement, Elroy raised Main-Anjou Beef Cattle on his Stoney Acres Farm in Menchalville. He was a member of the Valley Beef Association and the Eastern WI Beef Producers and Promoters.
Survivors include his wife: Karen Nienhaus, Menchalville; two sons: Pat (Phyllis) Nienhaus, Whitelaw, Todd Nienhaus and his significant other, Tracy Hirtreiter, Menchalville; one daughter: Nichole (Adam) Paulow, Reedsville; three grandchildren: Josh (Brittany) Wasurick, rural Two Rivers, Danielle Wasurick and special friend, Craig, School Hill, Tiffany (Jason) Zeman, Kellnersville; three great-grandchildren: Emily, Howie and Myron; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Elaine (Romy) Bishop, Menchalville, Elsie Korinek, Kellnersville, Ellen (Karl) Schmidt, Manitowoc; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Dale Leist, Whitelaw, Ann Kramer, Manitowoc, Allen (Barbara) Leist, Manitowoc, Diane Leist, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ellsworth and Elaine Nienhaus; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Paul and Blanche Leist; one sister and three brothers-in-law: Evelyn (Russell) Ebert, Donald Leist, James Kramer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 1124 Main Street, Kellnersville. Deacon Randy Meidl will officiate with cremation to follow at the All-Care Cremation Center in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
