Genevieve Taylor Obituary

Genevieve Estelle Taylor, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024. Genevieve was born April 19, 1942 in Kewaunee, WI, the third of five children of John and Anna (Repitz) Brusky. She grew up on her family farm, attending a one-room schoolhouse in Kroc, WI. After graduating from Kewaunee High School in 1960, she married George Taylor on November 12, 1960 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in East Kroc, WI.

She was hired in 1978 as a rural carrier at the Mishicot Post Office until her retirement in 2002. She served as the secretary/treasurer of the county Rural Letter Carriers Association and was active in the Wisconsin Rural Letter Carriers Association as a committee member and voting delegate for several years, representing Wisconsin at the national rural carrier conventions throughout the United States from 1991 to 2002. In 2002 she capped her career by being chosen as “Wisconsin Outstanding Carrier of the Year.”

Genevieve was active in community service, working as a teacher’s aide at Mishicot Elementary School, teaching religious education and serving on the finance council at Holy Cross Catholic Church, and serving as the town of Two Creeks Health Officer.

She enjoyed traveling and visited places such as Hawaii, Alaska, Belize, Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and various countries in Europe. Genevieve and George purchased a winter home in Weslaco, Texas, making new friends and exploring new and old hobbies.

Genevieve is survived by her husband George; children Debra Taylor of Mount Juliet, TN; Randy (Julie) Taylor of Maplewood, MN, Chuck Taylor of Parker, CO, and Linda Taylor of Mount Juliet, TN; grandchildren Nate, Rachel, Will, Kristina, Shelby and Kyra; sister Betty (Leroy) Duerschmidt of Apple Valley, MN, sister Pat Hemmesch of Burnsville, MN, and brother John Brusky of Valders, WI; as well as many beloved sisters- and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents John and Anna Brusky, sister Emilie Brezinski; sister-in-law Jan Brusky, and brothers-in-law Jerome Brezinski and Con Hemmesch.

The funeral for Genevieve will take place at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin on Saturday, June 22, with visitation at 10 am and service at 11 am. Luncheon will follow at the church.
