George Miller Obituary

George Arthur Miller, age 94, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025. He was born on May 30, 1931, to the late Henry O. and Rose (Beck) Miller. He was born and raised on the family farm in the Town of Greenbush, a Wisconsin Century Farm. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1949. His life was marked by a steadfast faith, an unwavering love for his family, and a deep commitment to service.

During the Korean War, George enlisted in the Army. It was during this time that he began a remarkable love story. Through handwritten letters exchanged with Delores (Lori) Lunstra from Minnesota, he discovered his partner in life. She became his beloved wife in 1956. They raised four children on the family farm, fostering a legacy of love and devotion that would extend through generations. With nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, George's family was the cornerstone of his life.

After the loss of his wife in 2001, George found companionship with Vi Feldmann for many years, and more recently shared his life with Gloria Faber. His ability to open his heart to love again was a testament to his resilience and capacity for warmth.

A lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, George was deeply involved in various roles, including congregational president, evangelism, stewardship, choir participation, and serving as an Elder. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life. Additionally, he was an active member of the American Legion, serving as Sheboygan County and Greenbush Post 261 commander and chaplain. George took great pride in being honored as the American Legion Sheboygan County Chaplain Emeritus, a recognition of his dedication to his fellow veterans.

Outside of his church and military service, George was a pillar of his community. He was named Volunteer of the Year for the Plymouth Historical Society and provided transportation to medical appointments for many years, demonstrating his selflessness and concern for others. He was also an enthusiastic participant in barbershop singing and loved to play cards. He was a 4-H project leader, member of the Greenbush fire department, and a Dairyland Seed salesman. During his more active years, he enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and bicycling, especially the Maywood 100-mile bike ride well into his 70’s.

George's infectious sense of humor and genuine warmth ensured that no one remained a stranger for long. He had a knack for uplifting those around him, whether through a witty remark, a funny story (or two), a kind word, or a warm smile. His love for his family and friends was unwavering, and he could always be counted on to "show up" whenever anyone needed help, an encouraging word, or simply a comforting hug. He set the standard for connecting with people, living his faith, and dedication to family.

In the hearts of all who knew him, George leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Delores, his brother Waylon, his sisters: Teckla Neumann, Caroline Wieser, and Nelda Sieber.  Also, cherished in-laws and nephews and nieces.

Survivors include his brother Robert of Illinois; his 4 children: Sheryl (Larry) Polster of Plymouth, Dwight (Karen) Miller of Jackson, Lorilea ((Edward) Reible of Avalon, and Kathleen (Eric) Bahner of Lake Mills; 9 grandchildren William (Rian) Polster, Jenny (Nathan) Kraftcheck, Nicholas (Nicole) Polster, Alicia (Travis) Huizenga, Samuel (Lauren) Miller, Rose (Jackson) Pierce, Lukas ARTHUR Reible, Jakob Bahner, and Zachary GEORGE (Ashley) Bahner; 11 great grandchildren: Hannah Kraftcheck, Josiah Kraftcheck, Kenna Huizenga, Andrew Huizenga, Olivia Polster, Eli Polster, Nora Polster, Evelyn Miller, Rebecca Miller, Arwen Pierce, Peter Pierce.
