George Shavlik Jr. Obituary

George J. Shavlik Jr., age 85, formerly of Taus, passed away peacefully Friday, November 3, 2023, at Century Ridge Assisted Living in Chilton.

George was born on November 24, 1937, in the township of Franklin, son of the late George and Verna (Oswald) Shavlik Sr. He grew up in the town of Franklin and graduated from Reedsville High School. George served in the United States Army Reserves following high school. On December 1, 1956, George was married to Beverly Ann Naidl at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. She preceded him in death on June 14, 2020. George worked for 35 years at Manitowoc Crane as a machine operator. He was a 66-year member of St. Augustine Parish, Reif Mills. He was a founding member of the Taus ball club and the Inland Snowblazers. George enjoyed coaching youth fastpitch baseball, and coaching fastpitch and slow-pitch softball. He loved to watch or listen to the Milwaukee Brewers. George was honored with the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Achievement/ Appreciation Award.

Survivors include one daughter: Cindy Eichhorst, Brillion; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Terry (Lisa) Shavlik, New Holstein, Randy Shavlik, Kellnersville; one son-in-law: Steven Eichhorst, Greenleaf; two grandchildren: Aaron (Anne) Eichhorst and Angie Bartotto (Steve Schlais); two great grandchildren: Zander Bartotto and Griffin Bartotto; one brother: Donald Shavlik, Two Rivers; one sister: Joanne Allen, Melbourne, FL; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Ray Berres Jr, Whitelaw, Sue (Bob) Hastreiter, Whitelaw; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Verna Shavlik Sr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law: George and Marian Naidl; his wife: Beverly Ann Shavlik; one daughter: Michele Eichhorst; one son-in-law: Roger Eichhorst; one sister: Kathy Berres; two sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law: Shirley (Vernon) Oswald, Roy Naidl, Robert (Lily Ann) Naidl, Gary Allen.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Reinbold and Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 1124 Main St., Kellnersville. Deacon Cal Naidl will officiate with cremation to follow and burial of his cremated remains at St. Augustine Cemetery, Reif Mills at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon.
