Germaine M. Suchomel

Germaine M. Suchomel, age 89, of Manitowoc passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at St. Mary’s Home of Felician Village.

The former Germaine Steeber was born on November 7, 1935, in Kellnersville, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Edward and Blanche (Sykora) Steeber. She grew up in Kellnersville and was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1953. Germaine was a graduate of the Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1973, and in 1993 she was a graduate of Silver Lake College with a degree in music. On May 13, 1978, Germaine was married to John Suchomel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2002.

Over the years, Germaine was active as a 4-H leader, member of the Wisconsin Czechs and past director of music for the Wisconsin Czech Choraliers, Newfoundland Club of America, and was active as a musician in church music, singing with the Manitowoc Chamber Choir. Germaine was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville.

Survivors include her four children: Kathleen, Milwaukee, Bernie, FL, Mark Thein and his special friend Tammy Zirpoli, Cato, Anne-Marie (Rob) Malkovich, Sun Prairie; ten grandchildren: Sharon, Steven, John, Claire, Rose, Luke, Paul, Fern, James, and Josephine; one sister-in-law: Patricia Steeber, Menomonee Falls; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Blanche Steeber; her husband: John Suchomel; five brothers and sisters-in-law: William (Betty) Steeber, Gordon Steeber, Edward (Theresa) Steeber, Clifford Steeber, Norbert (Carol) Steeber; one sister: Elaine Corvington.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville, Wisconsin from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Brian Belongia will Celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial.
