Gordon Wilmot Obituary

Gordon D. Wilmot, 83, of Sheboygan, WI passed on May 15, 2026.  Gordon is the husband of Marjorie (Cooper Danhof) Wilmot and the father of Cindy (Wilmot) Carter. He was born in Duluth, MN on November 21, 1942 to parents Douglas and June (Merrian) Wilmot. After graduating high school he served as a Military Police for the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he put his trained technical skills to work in the commercial refrigeration industry, and, for several years, he owned and managed an appliance store.

Gordon is remembered for his deep faith in his Savior Jesus Christ and his knowledge of the Bible. He was a true artist in woodworking, crafting countless ornaments and cherished pieces of clocks and furniture. Painting, mainly acrylics, brought him joy as he watched God's creation of animals and scenery come to life on his canvases. Because of his generous nature, much of his artwork fills the homes of his friends and loved ones. He was a hard worker and oftentimes hard-headed! Gordon was a jokester, which kept him young at heart and kept those around him on their toes! Throughout his adult life, Gordon's dedication to Jesus kept him centered and on a righteous path. His greatest joy was teaching children in Children's Church. He also ran a large bus ministry to transport children to church and to fun activities in the park afterwards. He shared his faith in Jesus almost weekly by going door-to-door visiting neighborhoods.

Gordon's light and legacy will be carried on by his wife, Marj, his daughter, Cindy, and grandson, John Henry Anderson VI. He is fondly remembered by Marj's children and family, as well as his nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his late wife, Judith. (Marj likes to say, to the surprise and purplexity of many, when asked how long they have been married, that she and Gordon share 90 years of happy marriage together! [This includes all the years of Gordon and Marj with their late spouses, and their own years altogether!]).  He is also preceded in death by his son Luke Wilmot, and sisters Joyce Brown, Candice Wilmot, and Mary Wilmot.
