Helen Lucey Obituary

Helen M. Lucey, age 90 of Manitowoc, entered into Heaven on her birthday, April 23, 2022, peacefully with her family by her side. Helen was born on April 23, 1932, to the late Matthew "Matt" & Magdalena (Kloeppel) Moehn in Stockbridge, Wisconsin.

Helen graduated from Stockbridge High School, where she was a proud member of the championship girls’ basketball team. Following graduation, she moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin and worked at American Motors. It was there that she met her late husband, James Lucey. The couple married on November 6, 1954. Helen and Jim raised their four children Michael, Kathleen, Jeff, and Mary Ann in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Jim preceded her in death on December 25, 1984.

Helen was a “people person” and loved working with the public. Throughout her career in customer service, she worked at Machut’s Supper Club, Wolfe Snyder Drug, Osco Drug, and CVS Pharmacy. To know Helen is to have laughed with or shared a kind word with her — whether you were a stranger or a close friend. She had a special gift for lovingly teasing others and a laugh that sparked joy in those around her. Helen never truly retired and remained a beloved part of the CVS Pharmacy team led by Mary Mueller into her early 80s.

Helen had a love for children in the community. She is remembered fondly for having Tootsie Rolls for the kiddos who came through her line at the store. She also volunteered at Jackson Elementary and provided support in the first and second-grade classrooms of Lisa Borowski and Dean Sleger. She especially loved to read with the students.

Helen loved to cook and bake for others — it was her love language. Her specialty was pies, and each of her children and grandchildren had their favorite. She was also famous for her Christmas cookies, pancakes, and tenderloin tips. Helen was a lover of travel and visited many countries around the world. She was a diehard Packers fan and was a season ticket holder for over 35 years. In the summer, she enjoyed fishing on Silver Lake in Wautoma — even when a storm was rolling in. She will also be remembered for her red sports cars, her “TR GRAM” license plate, and her blue Christmas lights.

Above all else, Helen loved her faith and her family. She was an active member of the St. Peter the Fisherman Parish and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Greeter for many years. Helen was immensely proud of her four children and their accomplishments. She greatly enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and, in her later years, her great-grandchildren brought her great joy and many smiles.

Helen will be deeply missed by her children: Michael (Ellen) Lucey, Kathy (Mark) Glaeser, Jeff (Carlos) Lucey, and Mary Ann (Al) Dilling; 6 grandchildren: Steven (Millicent) Glaeser, Megan (Matt) Enderby, Alex (Patrick) Kenealy, Devin (Connor) McGovern, Joseph (Bri) Lucey, and Joshua Dilling; her 10 great-grandchildren: Huxley, Luella, and Marigold Glaeser, Lena and Julia Enderby, Keegan, Leo, and Baker Kenealy, DJ Lucey, and Dillin McGovern; her siblings Matt Moehn, Gerry (Pat) Moehn, and Carol (Dick) Mueller; her sisters-in-law: Eileen and Doris Moehn; Nancy Lucey, Kathy Lucey; and beloved longtime friends Rita Jansen and Dan and Cyndi Svacina.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her infant daughter, Lori; and her siblings: Lucille (Harry) Martin, Luella (Bob) Brooks, George (Betty) Moehn, Harold Moehn, Cliff (Florence) Moehn, Mary (Robert) Schwobe, Art Moehn, and her sister-in-law Sylvia Moehn; and other in-laws; Bill Lucey, Tom (Shirley) Lucey, Jack Lucey and Mike Lucey.

Funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers.  Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Fr. Dave Pleier with burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers at a later time. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman on Monday from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. A dinner will follow at Machut’s Supper Club in Two Rivers.
