Herbert L. Kohlbeck

Herbert L. Kohlbeck, age 96, of rural Whitelaw, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Herbert was born on June 13, 1925 in the township of Franklin, son of the late George and Rosa (Lensmire) Kohlbeck. He grew up in the town of Franklin and was a 1943 graduate of Reedsville High School. On April 26, 1950 Herb was married to the former Marie B. Strouf at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot.

Herb and his wife Marie owned and operated their own business, Kohlbeck’s Riverview Inn at Reifs Mills for 34 and a half years. Herb also worked delivering newspapers for the Herald Times Reporter and retired from Belgioso Cheese in Denmark. He was a former member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Reifs Mills and a current member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. Herb enjoyed designing things to help make tasks easier, tinkering in the basement, spending time with his granddaughter, Marissa and being on his son’s farm. The couple enjoyed spending many winters in Florida.

Survivors include his one son and daughter-in-law: Richard (Debbie) Kohlbeck, Manitowoc; one granddaughter; Marissa Kohlbeck, rural Whitelaw; one sister and brother-in-law: Monica (Bill) Geigel, Manitowoc; one brother: Cyril Kohlbeck, Ashwaubenon; one sister-in-law: Dorothy Kohlbeck, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Rosa Kohlbeck; his wife: Marie Kohlbeck; six brothers and five sisters-in-law: Roger Kohlbeck, Abdon (Gertrude) Kohlbeck, Carole Kohlbeck, Emanuel (Grace) Kohlbeck, George Kohlbeck, Kenneth (Marie) Kohlbeck, Gordon (Verna Mae) Kohlbeck.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. John Becker and Deacon Mike Valenta will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery, Reifs Mills. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:30 AM.
