James “Jim” Luther, age 82, of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Jim was born in Manitowoc on April 12, 1940, son of the late Edwin and Evelyn (Dier) Luther.
Jim was a 1958 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, and graduated University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1962, receiving a BBA in Accounting. After employment for a short time in Milwaukee, Jim moved back to Manitowoc and joined Manitowoc Savings Bank which later became Associated Bank where he made many lifelong friends. He retired as Vice President and CFO in 1999.

Jim’s favorite activity was golf. He loved the competition and a cold brew afterwards. For many years he was a member of the Meadow Links two-man golf league, being treasurer for the team. He also enjoyed golfing various courses throughout the state. Jim was delighted with his first hole-in-one and shooting his age on 2 occasions. He was an avid sports fan.
Jim & Sue spent many years vacationing in Fairhope, Alabama, reconnecting with friends year after year. They also enjoyed many bus trips with family and friends. Jim had a kind heart and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
