James Stanton Obituary

James D. Stanton, 85, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully at home, in the loving care of his family on Friday morning, May 19, 2023.

Jim was born June 15th, 1937, son of Mary and Daniel Stanton, Erie, IL.  Jim worked at Fisher-Hamilton, Two Rivers, in time-study and supervision until his retirement.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Amvets, and the American Legion.  He was also a member of Hope Community Church in Manitowoc. He was an avid reader of the Bible and was in his fourth year of reading Bible In One Year.  He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, but mostly enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra "Sandy" (Holm) Stanton, son Bradley Stanton and granddaughter, Olivia Stanton, both of Green Bay, Wisconsin; children from a previous marriage, Dan (Kelly) Stanton, South Padre, Texas, Steve (Moira) Stanton, Cibolo, Texas, Kaye (Tim) Stanton-Roberts, Wabeno, Wisconsin, Tracey Stanton Ziegenhorn, East Peoria, Illinois. Also surviving Jim: one sister, Sandra (Neil) Fuller, Geneseo, Illinois, one brother, R. Thomas (Meg) Stanton, Akron, Ohio; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Duane and Nancy Bovin, Gladstone, Michigan along with other relatives and friends.  He is also survived by his special (rescue) pets, Jackson and Whisper, who were always by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Hazel Holm, Gladstone, Michigan and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elmer and Ruthann Holm, Sparta, Wisconsin.  

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm at Hope Community Church, 4408 County Rd. B, Manitowoc on June 17th, 2023. Visitation will occur from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm.
