James Barrie Thomas Sr.

James B. Thomas, Sr., age 76, a Manitowoc resident, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

James was born on October 10, 1945, in Lancaster, England, son of the late Clayton and Martha (Vernon) Thomas.  He graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served in Vietnam from 1967-1969. On June 20, 1970, he married Kathleen A. Naidl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc.  She preceded him in death on December 22, 2011. He was employed as a security guard at Fischer Hamilton until his retirement. James was an avid Packers fan, loved playing football on his Xbox, enjoyed fishing and particularly took pleasure in his morning coffee.

Survivors include his children: James (RaeAnn) Thomas, Jr., Two Rivers; Victoria Puterbaugh, Manitowoc; Jennifer Howell, Manitowoc; thirteen grandchildren: Jordan (Melody), Brandon, Jesse (Fiancée Rachel), Jeffrey, Crystal, Joshua, Blake, Trinity, Jasen, Lexi, Ashton, Johnathon, Leland; two great-grandsons; brother: Vernon (Terry) Thomas; brother-in-law: Roger (Donna) Naidl; his dog: Hazel; special friend: Jesse Mott; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clayton and Martha Thomas; his wife: Kathleen Thomas; and his son: Jay Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. At the service’s conclusion, James will be given military honors by American Legion Post #88.  Cremation will take place and James will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers, at a later date.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pfeffer Funeral Home.  The visitation will continue Friday, January 21, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
