James (Jim) G. Reel, age 89, went to eternal rest in Christ on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at The Waterford in Plymouth. Jim was born on August 3, 1936, to the late Leo and Genevieve (Negedlo) Reel. Jim graduated from Central Catholic High School (Green Bay, Wis.) in 1955. He married his loving wife, Madonna (Donna) Stauber on June 16, 1962. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2016. Over the years, Jim worked as a manufacturing supervisor at Foremost Foods, and later in his career, as a financial planner with Wadell and Reed. Jim loved the water and time spent at the family cottage in Door County. In his retirement years, he enjoyed Lake Michigan, and the shores of Kohler-Andrae state park. He loved all water sports and taught untold numbers of friends and family to water ski. He was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors and working in his yard.
With Jim, there was never a stranger. Blessed with a true gift of gab, he always took the time to get to know his neighbors, as well as anyone he crossed paths with. Jim was a longtime member of St. Peter Claver and Immaculate Conception parishes in Sheboygan and more recently was regularly visited by St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.
Jim is survived by his children: Mark (Mary) Reel, David (Jenni) Reel, Amy (Keith)
Roerdink, and Kathy (Shane) Thorne; grandchildren: Erik, Sydney, Skyelar, Hayden,
Cole, Reese, Collin, and Hazel; and great-grandchild: Rhory. He is further survived
by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his
wife, Donna Reel, parents Leo and Genevieve Reel, and siblings: Jane Bender,
Barbara Phellps, and Jack Reel.
A funeral mass to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at St. Thomas Aquinas in Elkhart Lake. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Jim will be laid to rest at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay.
