Jane Seeger Obituary

The family of Jane Carol (Janke) Seeger rejoices that she entered the gates of heaven and received her victory crown on Monday, May 11, 2026. She was 73 years old when she died in the grace of Jesus at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee following an eight-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Jane was born on November 29, 1952, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to Rev. Philip and Naomi (Gerlach) Janke. She was baptized by her father at Friedens Ev. Lutheran Church in Hague, North Dakota, marking her as Christ’s own forever. She confirmed her faith on May 22, 1966, at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.

Jane attended Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, graduating in 1970. She graduated from Waukesha County Technical Institute in 1973 with a Practical Nursing degree. Jane married Paul Seeger, son of Fritz and Esther (Hemker), on July 13, 1980, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Throughout their nearly 46 years of marriage, they grew together and raised their children while upholding the true words of their wedding verses: “The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Psalm 121:7-8

Jane lived as a quiet servant for her Savior and others. She worked as a licensed practical nurse in Florida and Two Rivers, Wisconsin, but she spent most of her career at Holy Family Memorial Hospital in Manitowoc. She was a longtime member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc, where she was active in Ladies’ Aid, choir, Parish Nurses, Bible classes, and Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS); Jane had a special love for the WELS world mission field. She was grateful for her community at Repeat Performance, where she volunteered weekly.

Jane joins her parents, Philip and Naomi Janke, and her parents-in-law, Fritz and Esther Seeger, in heaven. She is survived by many loving family members, including her husband: Paul Seeger; children: Stephanie (Kevin) Ehlke and their children Owen, Oliver, Simeon, and Adeline; Zachary (Becky) Seeger and their children Seth, JJ, and Ryan; Jennifer (Paul) Wolfgramm and their children Emmie and Fritz; and Jeremy (Grace) Seeger and their children Liliana and Aurelia. Jane is survived by her siblings: Beth (Carl) Nolte, Richard (Debbie) Janke, Mary (Keith) Wakeman, and Steven (Peggy) Janke. She is also survived by her in-laws: Ruth (Charles) Buege, Norman (Mary) Seeger, Marilyn (Charles) Lukasek, Carla (Gary) Korthals, and Rachel (Dale) Feddersen. Furthermore, Jane was a very special and present aunt to 37 nieces and nephews.

Jane lived a life anchored in faith, loving God above all and reflecting His grace most naturally in the company of her family. She treasured every moment with her children and grandchildren, rarely missing a game, concert, or milestone. She loved outdoor activities, the Brewers, and traveling with Paul—in the U.S. as well as trips to China and Thailand to visit their children.

A service to celebrate Jane’s eternal life in heaven will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 29, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. Pastors Stephen Melso and Caleb Davisson will officiate. Friends and family are welcome for visitation from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Committal will take place at Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Bethany Lutheran Church, Manitowoc Lutheran High School, or WELS World Missions.

All the blessings in Jane’s life were evidence of God’s grace. Her life was filled with joy and thankfulness because she knew her family walked in the truth (3 John 1:4).

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Pastors Melso, Davisson, and Unnasch for their spiritual care. They also wish to thank the nurses, staff, and NP Dave on T12 at St. Luke's for the loving care given to Jane during her hospitalizations.
