Janice M. Zipperer, age 89 of Manitowoc passed away Tuesday evening, November 14, 2023, at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.
Janice was born on October 10, 1934, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Ella (Shimon) Novy. At a young age her mother passed away and she was raised by her aunt and uncle Mary and John Wilson. She grew up in Manitowoc and attended Holy Innocents Grade School and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On October 27, 1956, Janice was married to Jule C. Zipperer at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The couple raised Polled Hereford on their small farm in the town of Manitowoc Rapids along the Branch River near the Branch River Country Club. Janice also worked for many years in Human Resources at Sears in Manitowoc and later worked in the billing department at Holy Family Hospital.
Janice was baptized and a life member of Holy Innocents Catholic Church now known as St. Francis of Assisi. She was a member of the Polled Hereford Association, former 4-H leader, and the Holiday Inn Owners Association.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Mark and Leigh Zipperer, Germantown, TN; one granddaughter: Dr. Regina Zipperer, Germantown, TN; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and one brother: Lester E. Novy.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Waldo site, 1121 N. 14th St, Manitowoc with Fr. Matt Colle celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment has taken place at the Calvary Mausoleum in Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
