Jerome "Boomer" Vogel Obituary

Jerome “Boomer” K. Vogel, 88, of Whitelaw passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at his residence.

Jerome was born on September 16, 1937 in the town of Cato to Jospeh and Theodora (Schimmel) Vogel.  He was a 1956 graduate of Valders High School. He served his country in the National Guard, 32nd Division, for 8 years. On July 12, 1958, he married the former Judith Riederer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clarks Mills. In 1964, Jerome and his wife, bought a farm and operated for 30 years. During which time he also did custom combining. Over the years, he worked at Hamilton Manufacturing in Two Rivers, Brennan and Rolland Construction, Francis Sauer Excavating, farmed on the family farm, then worked at Sandy Bay Mink Ranch for several years until his retirement in 2010 at the age of 71.

Jerome was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw, where he served as an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society. Jerome was a member of the Whitelaw Sportsman Club and a 50 year member of the Whitelaw Fire Department. Jerome was a member of Catholic Financial Life and past president of Catholic Order of Foresters, court #730.  He coached boys basketball and in the 1950’s he played softball with the American Legion, Whitelaw, Haupts, and Kellnersville. In Later years he played darts with Braunies in Whitelaw. They enjoyed traveling the different states with their son, Jeff, driving and he was an avid Cubs, Bucks, and Packer fan.

Jerome is survived by his wife: Judith Vogel, Whitelaw; three children: Debra (James) Arner, PA, Jeff Vogel, Whitelaw, and Denise (Michael) Burbey, NY; two grandchildren: James (Lauren) Arner, PA, and Dr. Justin (Clara) Arner, PA; four great-grandchildren: James “Benjamin” Arner, Amelia Arner, Reid Arner, and Eloise Arner; one sister: Dolores Bursch, De Pere, one sister-in-law: Viola Vogel, Manitowoc. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents: Jospeh and Theodora Vogel; five sisters: Irene Fronholz, Margaret (Norman) Manlick, Hilaria (Mike) Pankratz, Angeline Bump, and Florence Leighty; and five brothers: Robert (Louise) Vogel, Art (Dorothy) Vogel, Joseph Vogel, Harold (Dorothy) Vogel, and James (Leona) Vogel.

A memorial mass to celebrate Jerome’s life will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church,110 W. Menasha Ave. Whitelaw, with Rev. Richard Klingeisen officiating the service. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Burial of cremains will take place following the service in the parish cemetery.
