Jo-Nell M. Rubick

Jo-Nell M. Rubick, age 82 of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 29, 2025, under the care of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.

Jo-Nell was born on October 9, 1942, in Escanaba, MI, a daughter of the late Joseph and Erma Davis. She grew up in Manistique, MI and was a 1961 graduate of Manistique High School. Following High School, Jo-Nell attended Northern Michigan University and received a nursing degree in 1963. On August 22, 1964, Jo-Nell married her high school sweetheart, Ron Rubick.

Jo-Nell worked as a nurse for many years followed by a career in the Manitowoc School District as a teacher assistant and home visitor.

Jo-Nell lived a full and vibrant life. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. You could often find her out in nature whether it would be in her kayak paddling around Indian Lake, tooling around on her bike with a Coke in her basket, cruising around town, tending to her flowers, sitting around the campfire with family and friends, or watching a sunset.

Her most amazing talents were her superb story telling and the ability to connect and spread joy with everyone she met, and I mean everyone. Jo-Nell lived a faith-filled life and cherished her time making lasting memories with family and friends. Jo-Nell was the heart and soul of her family and was known for her laughter and sharp wit. Her bright light and beautiful spirit will be greatly missed.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Becky (Bill) Frasch, White Lake, WI; two grandchildren: Jacob Frasch, Pewaukee and Julia (Jelani) Cooper, Sussex. She was preceded in death by her father: Joseph Davis; her mother and stepfather: Erma and James Gierke; husband: Ron Rubick; son: Robert “BJ” Rubick; and brother: Joey Davis.

Tentative date for the Celebration of Life will be on Friday, July 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Silver Creek Fieldhouse, 3001 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, WI.
