Joan Kanter Obituary

Joan M. Kanter, age 82 of Reedsville passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

The former Joan Schultz was born on October 10, 1941, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Royal and Florence (Haelfrisch) Schultz. She grew up in the Reedsville area and was a 1959 graduate of Reedsville High School. Following High School Joan attended Business School in Florida. On April 27, 1963, Joan was married to Donald G. Kanter in Manitowoc, he preceded her in death on September 26, 2008. Joan worked for Head Start in Manitowoc from 1980 until her retirement as a Parent Advocate. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Valders and the Reedsville Senior Citizens. Joan enjoyed playing cards and loved all kids and her family.

Survivors include her four children: Todd Kanter, Reedsville, Timothy Kanter and his special friend Heidi Maura, Valders, Melissa (Anthony “Shaggy”) Schambureck, Reedsville, and Mia (Matthew) Pritzl, Reedsville; eight grandchildren: Kassandra (Joe) Beckman, Kamille (Ryan) Robley, Hunter (Larry) McKenzie, Ashley Kanter, Cole Kanter, Conor Behnke, Cora Pritzl, and Cloe Pritzl; six great grandchildren; two brothers, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law: Ric (Cyndee) Schultz, Reedsville, and Kevin Schultz, Reedsville, John “Jack” Schiesl, Reedsville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Dennis (Lyla) Kanter, Darwin (Robin) Kanter, Daniel (Shirly) Kanter, Dean (Jane) Kanter, Dianne Carmody, Danette Kanter, Denise (Mike) Weber, Dorilyn Kanter, Deborah (Tim) Karl, and Dorothy (Patrick) Fitzgerald; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Royal and Florence Schultz; her husband: Donald Kanter; one sister: Connie Schiesl; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Barb Schultz, Delores (Jerome) Moller, and Darlene Balliew.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Church, 225 Roosevelt St, Valders. The Rev. Dan Lyman will officiate with entombment to follow at the Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
