John Joseph Antonie, 88, of Two Rivers, passed into eternal life on February 19, 2026, at Northland Lodge Assisted Living in Two Rivers.
John was born on June 4, 1937, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Victoria (Glandt) Antonie. He graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers in 1955 and, on October 4, 1957, was united in marriage to Janet (Jansen) at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Two Rivers.
That same year, John entered Barber School in Green Bay, after his father influenced him to continue the family business. John’s father Joseph opened the barbershop at 1507 16th St., Two Rivers in 1927. Back then in Two Rivers, there were 17 barbers and 11 barbershops. After barber school, John worked alongside his father, until his father passed away in 1967. John franchised with Roffler of the Midwest in 1971.He proudly operated Antonie’s Barber Shop, until retiring in August 2023. John cherished his time at the shop, valuing the friendships he built, and the generations of families he served over the years.
He was an avid sports fan of all the Wisconsin teams, especially the Green Bay Packers, and often shared stories of attending the legendary Ice Bowl. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter the Fisherman (Holy Redeemer) Catholic Church, where he proudly ushered for 35 years. He enjoyed playing and teaching accordion, gardening, and cooking, all while helping raise five boys. He was also a very active member of the Two Rivers Lions Club, the Jaycees, and the Elks Club. He worked for a significant portion of his career without ever taking a vacation but grew to love spending vacations in Orlando, FL and Branson, MO.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Janet, parents, Joseph and Victoria Antonie, his brothers, George and Phillip, and his sister Jolene.
He is survived by his brother Paul (Linda) of Ocala, FL, sister-in-law Linda of Phoenix, AZ, sons David (Jean), Jeff, Joseph (Laura) and their daughter Isabel, Robert and his daughters Kayla and Amanda, and Thomas (Deborah) and his children Alex (Ashley), Allison and Jack, and great-grandchildren, Akari and Aidan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier. Burial of his remains will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately follow services.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m.
