John R. Meyer

John R. Meyer age 76 of rural Reedsville, died Saturday morning, March 11, 2023, at Sylvan Crossings Assisted Living Facility in Manitowoc.

John was born on January 14, 1947, in Manitowoc, son of the late Alois and Catherine (Delsman) Meyer. He grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Sacred Heart Seminary High School in Oneida. He furthered his education receiving a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. John retired from the Point Beach Nuclear Plant where he worked in quality control. On August 29, 1970, John was married to the former Cynthia M. Feil in Milwaukee.

John was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clarks Mills and actively participated in the church choir. He was an active volunteer naturalist at the Brillion Nature Center. John was a Ham Radio Operator and in the past volunteered at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. 

Survivors include his wife: Cynthia “Cindy” Meyer, rural Reedsville; one brother and sister-in-law: Jim (Kay) Meyer, Manitowoc; three stepsisters and brothers-in-law: Pat (Dan) Johanek, Appleton, Marge (Lyle) Ruthmansdorfer, Manitowoc, Mary Ellen (Gary) Ashenbrenner, Manitowoc; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Gary Feil, Sussex, Jeff (Babette) Feil, Waukesha; a special friend: Shiyanke, Colorado Springs,CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alois and Catherine Meyer; stepmother: Evelyn Meyer; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jerry (Armella) Feil; two stepbrothers: Mike Koch, Jon Koch; one niece: Sarah Buck.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial of his cremated remains to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
