John B. “Jack” Bentley, age 81 of Manitowoc, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Froedtert Holy Family Memorial Hospital.
Jack was born September 28, 1944, in Manitowoc, son of the late Bernie H. and Louise M. (McCormick) Bentley. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1962 from Lincoln High School. He served in the United States Army. On July 8, 1967, Jack married the former Marge E. Barta at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. Jack was a diehard Cubs fan, a member of River Wildlife in Kohler and enjoyed fly fishing and tying flies.
He is survived by his wife: Marge Bentley, Manitowoc; two daughters: Kristine Bentley and her significant other Scott McLinn, Manitowoc, Kelly (Brian) Toltzmann, Newton; four grandchildren: Blake Toltzmann and his significant other Emily Ament, Manitowoc, Brennen Toltzmann, Manitowoc, Hayden Toltzmann and his significant other Esther Thielbar, De Pere, Tori Graff, Manitowoc; one great-grandchild: Ellis Ament-Toltzmann; one sister: Bonnie (Bill) Marshburn, Manitowoc; one sister-in-law: Kaye (Ron) Schwoerer, Valders; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Jack was preceded in death by his parents: Bernie and Louise Bentley; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Raymond and Ellen Barta; two brothers-in-law: Paul Barta and John Barta.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 South 14th Street, Manitowoc. Deacon Al Boeldt will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
