Joseph C. Pohl, age 82, longtime Manitowoc resident, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at home.
Joseph was born in Cayuga, son of the late Frank and Sally Bay. He graduated from Glidden High School with the Class of 1960. On September 5, 1965, he married Dolores Ann Sprang at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, she preceded him in death on June 29, 2017. Joe was a welder for many years at Kelvinator and then at Hamilton’s, and was also a farmer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spent quite a bit of time in his garden.
Survivors include his three sons: Jeffery Pohl, Anthony “Tony” Pohl and Joseph “Joey” Pohl, all of Manitowoc; daughter: Barbara Pohl of Manitowoc; granddaughters: April Backus and Kimberly Pilon; great grandchildren: Lakota Lyon, Samuel Baer, Malaqii Backus, Paetynn Backus and Silvynn Backus. He is also survived by his in-laws: Wally (Karen) Sprang of Florida, Marilyn (Paul) Streubel of Two Rivers and Karen Braun of Manitowoc; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by two granddaughters: Kayla Lyon and Sally Pohl; and great-grandchildren: Jacob Baer and Torvald Mueller.
A Time of Reflection will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, Pfeffer Funeral Home location, 928 S. 14th St., Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
