Obituary

Kathleen M. Johnsrud, age 83, of Manitowoc passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Villa at Felician Village, Manitowoc.

The former Kathleen Andrews was born on August 16, 1938, in Wayland, MA, daughter of the late George R. and Hannah (Horgan) Andrews. She grew up in Wayland and was a 1956 graduate of Wayland High School. Kathleen then attended Regis College in Weston, MA, and received her bachelor’s degree in 1960. On April 11, 1964, Kathleen was married to William Johnsrud in Wayland, MA, and they became residents of Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2019.

Kathleen retired from the Manitowoc Public School District as a Pre-school Program Teacher. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Am-Vets Post #99 Auxiliary. Kathleen loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Boston Celtics, Boston Red Sox, and as well as the Roncalli Jets, as part of the infamous Basketball Grandmas.

Survivors include one son, one daughter and two sons-in-law: Kevin Johnsrud (Kathy Jacoby), Manitowoc; Katherine “Kelley” (John) Heide, De Pere, Michael Scheer, Manitowoc; Nana to seven grandchildren: Hannah (Joe) Weiss, Sun Prairie, MacKenzie Heide (Charlie Kelley), Minneapolis, MN, Michael Heide, Chicago, IL, Mason Scheer, De Pere, Samuel Scheer, De Pere, Keegan Johnsrud, Minneapolis, MN, Kiara Johnsrud, Manitowoc; Nana Great to two great grandchildren: Molly Weiss and William Weiss; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Miriam Andrews, Wayland, MA, Paul (Mary) Johnsrud, Manitowoc, Marcia Johnsrud, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: George R. and Hannah Andrews; her husband: William Johnsrud; one daughter: Paula Scheer; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Kenneth and Elizabeth Johnsrud; one brother: George L. Andrews; one brother-in-law: John Johnsrud.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall (2109 Marshall Street, Manitowoc). The Rev. Doug LeCaptain will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnsrud Family Scholarship Fund at Roncalli High School.
