Kermit Roy Schulz, 86, of Manitowoc passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Kermit was born on November 3, 1938 in Plymouth to Walter and Esther (Gessert) Schulz. He attended schools in Plymouth, graduating with the class of 1956 from Plymouth High School. On December 26, 1983, Kermit married Juliana Wesley. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2024. Kermit was employed by Larson Heather Chevrolet in Manitowoc and Joe Van Horn Chevrolet in Plymouth for many years until his retirement.
Kermit was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plymouth. He was a founding father and member of Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car, Inc (EWSC), and Kettle Moraine Corvette Club. Kermit was the first recipient of the EWSC/ MSC Award in 1992. In 2010 he was inducted into the Southeastern Short Track Hall of Fame in Hartford, WI. Most recently, he will be placed on the Plymouth Dirt Track Wall of Fame in July 2025. Kermit enjoyed local racing and NASCAR.
Kermit is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Connie (Ken) Place, Appleton; son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth (Byrdie) Schulz, Plymouth; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-children: Stephen (Dori) Hansen, Laura (Gerald) Woznicki, Kristen (Eric) Olson, and Mark (Tanya) Hansen and their families; two sisters-in-law; and other relatives. Kermit was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Esther Schulz; his wife: Juliana Schulz; and five brothers.
A memorial service to celebrate Kermit’s life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 222 N. Stafford Street, Plymouth, with Rev. John Schultz officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th Street, Manitowoc, from 5:00 – 7:30 pm and again on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the CHURCH from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place following the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth.
