Leon A. Van Os, age 90 of Manitowoc, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Dimensions Living in Sheboygan.
Lee was born on July 7, 1934, in Fremont, MI, a son of the late James and Marie (Dykman) Van Os. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1952 until his discharge in 1955. He attended Michigan State University where he received his master’s degree in counseling. On June 21, 1956, he married Helen Wormenhoven in Sunnyside, WA. She preceded him in death in 2000. He then married the former Mary Geimer in 2000. Lee was a guidance counselor at Washington Jr. High School and Wilson Jr. High School for 29 years, until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Van Os, Manitowoc; six children: Ron (Jen) Van Os, Greenville, WI, Carol (Ron) Norris, FL, Laurie (Gary) Lindow, Kohler, Pam (Kurt) Carlson, Mishicot, Duane (Cathy) Hendricks, Kellnersville, Joanne (Don) Graff, Two Rivers; eight grandchildren: Jake, Matia, Katie (Tyler), Allie, Kiley, Mackenzie, Travis, Scott; five great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Al (Grace) Van Os, FL, Jim (Sally) Van Os, MI; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: John (Sandy) Marx, Neenah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Marie Van Os; first wife: Helen Van Os; one brother and sister-in-law: Dale (Arlene) Van Os.
A celebration of Lee’s life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeshore Life Celebration Center, 3613 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc. Rev. Mike Kleinhans will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the Celebration Center from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.
