Lloyd Liermann Obituary

Lloyd A. Liermann age 99 of Manitowoc, formerly of the town of Manitowoc Rapids, passed away Wednesday morning January 8, 2025 at Whitetail Estates in Manitowoc.

Lloyd was born on December 26, 1925 at his family farm in the town of Manitowoc Rapids on a cold 2 below zero day. He was a son of the late Fred and Ella (Hormann) Liermann. Lloyd was baptized at First German Ev. Lutheran Church in 1926 and also confirmed at First German in 1939. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1943. On May 26, 1956 Lloyd was married to the former Leatrice C. Franz at Rockwood Ev. Lutheran Church, the Rev. Edward Zell officiated. Following their marriage Lloyd and Leatrice remodeled a home across the road from the Liermann family farm. Leatrice preceded him in death on December 16, 2017. Lloyd was a rural mail carrier for 25 years and also farmed in the town of Manitowoc Rapids for 50 years. He loved farming, traveling, and traveled to Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Lloyd was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church and served in the past on the school board and evangelism committee. In the past, Lloyd belonged to First German Ev. Lutheran Church and sang in their choir.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters: Paul Liermann, Manitowoc, Wayne (LeeAnn) Liermann, Bay City, MI, Julie (Joe) Holschbach, Manitowoc, Dawn Reichwaldt, Manitowoc, Lance (Janelle) Liermann, Osman, Tanya (Trevor) Hasenjager, Sturgeon Bay; 18 grandchildren: Dustin (Nettie) Liermann, Zachary (Brittany) Liermann, Makayla Liermann, Makiah Liermann, Maxwell Liermann, Mitchell Liermann, Jason (Steph) Holschbach, Jacqui (Nathan) Egholm, Ashley (Matt) Lacenski, Alicia (Steve) Birkholz, Amanda (Tyler) Rodewald, Carlea Liermann, Christopher (Whitney) Liermann, Jordan (Ashley) Liermann, Noah Liermann, Annika Liermann, Caitlyn Hasenjager, Nathanial Hasenjager; 21 great-grandchildren: Grace and Anna Egholm, Cortlynn, Maylie and Nolan Liermann, Andrew, Isaac and Julia Lacenski, Faith and Laura Birkholz, Roselyn Liermann, Eliza, Ozzy and Zoey Holschbach, Gus, Claire and Lily Rodewald, Hayes Lonergan, Bailey Liermann, Presley and Kennedy Liermann; one great-great-grandchild: Kendall Birkholz; one sister-in-law: Myvanwy Franz; two cousins: Kermit Hackmann, Richard Liermann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Ella Liermann; his wife: Leatrice Liermann; one granddaughter: Abigail Hasenjager; one brother and sister-in-law: August (Lou) Liermann; one sister and brother-in-law: Gloria (Nathan) Nass.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc. The Rev’s Stephen Melso and Caleb Davisson will officiate with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A memorial fund has been established in Lloyd’s name for Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or school.
