Lois Penkwitz Obituary

Lois M. Penkwitz, age 89, of Plymouth passed away on Thursday May 8, 2025, at Songbird Pond Assisted Living facility in Plymouth.

Lois was born on November 3, 1935 in St. Anna, daughter of the late Math and Olive (Roeder) Winkel Sr. She grew up in St. Anna and was a graduate of the Kiel High School. On June 16, 1956, Lois was married to James R. Penkwitz at St. Anna Catholic Church in St. Anna. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2015. Over the years, Lois worked at A&P and Great Lakes Cheese. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and often attended St. Thomas the Aquinas Catholic Church. Lois was a fun-loving, compassionate Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. She loved to shop, especially for others, always finding the perfect gifts.  

Survivors include her three children and their spouses: Michael (Ann) Penkwitz, Plymouth, Karen (Wayne) Hogue, Plymouth, Jeffrey (Teresa) Penkwitz, Plymouth; five grandchildren: Jason (Valerie) Hogue, Kellen (Jamie) Hogue, Lori (Mitchell) Adams, Marla (Clayton) Brath, Leanna (Travis) Kosnicki; twelve great-grandchildren: Amelia, Hannah and Molly Hogue, Wilson and Kennedy Lois Adams, Lila and Bryce Hogue, Anderson, Corinne, Nolan and William Brath, Harper Lois Kosnicki; one brother-in-law: John Schmitz, St. Cloud; one sister-in-law: Ann DeTroye, Pewaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Math and Olive Winkel Sr.; her husband: James R. Penkwitz; one grandson: Eric Hogue; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Earl (Alyce) Winkel, Math (Bernice) Winkel Jr., Robert (Kathleen) Winkel; her beloved twin sister: Louise Schmitz; two brothers-in-law: John Penkwitz, William DeTroye; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Edward and Elinor Penkwitz.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 94 N Lincoln St., Elkhart Lake. The Rev. Subi Thomas will Celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Plymouth. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Lois’s name.

She will be greatly missed by her family, until she greets each of us on our final journey. We love you Mom.
