Lou Anne Grapentine Obituary

Lou Anne M. Grapentine, age 85 of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at St. Mary’s of Felician Village, Manitowoc, surrounded by her loving family.

The former Lou Anne Rehrauer was born on December 24, 1939 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy (Delsman) Rehrauer. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1958. On May 13, 1961, Lou Anne was united in marriage to her 9th grade sweetheart, Walter “Wally” J. Grapentine at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. Lou Anne worked at the Manitowoc Savings Bank and later with Associated Bank, retiring in 2001 as their bank manager. She also worked part time at Margenau Drug. After retirement Lou Anne worked at “Memories” Gift Shop and later volunteered at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in their gift shop. She enjoyed playing Bridge, playing tennis, gardening, traveling, vacationing in Florida, and attending her three grandsons sporting events. Lou Anne and Wally camped for many years with their family and friends mostly at Peninsula State Park in Door County where they made many memories. Door County was their happy place. Lou Anne enjoyed hosting a bountiful Christmas brunch every year so family and extended family could all be together. Her catholic faith was very important to her. Lou Anne was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband: Walter J. Grapentine, Manitowoc; daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl (Michael) Kuether, Two Rivers; son and daughter-in-law: Mark (Shon) Grapentine, Manitowoc; three grandsons: Travis (Brittney) Kuether, Grafton , Scott (Brooke) Kuether, Menasha, and Cade Grapentine, Manitowoc; three great-grandsons: Trey, Tatum, and Graham; one great-granddaughter: Amelia, who is due in March;  four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Sue Lemberger, Manitowoc, Lee (Lou) Falligant, Stoughton, Pat (Paul) Schwartz, Monona, and Connie (Steve) Selby, Janesville; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Robert (Sharron) Grapentine, Appleton, Craig (Rita) Grapentine, GA, and Linda Grapentine, Manitowoc. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lou Anne was preceded in death by her parents: Donald and Dorothy Rehrauer; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Walter and Sadie Grapentine; two brothers-in-law: Bob Lemberger and Steve Grapentine; niece and goddaughter: Samantha Schwartz; one niece: Jill Sheets; one nephew: Chris Grapentine.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 1121 N. 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Doug LeCaptain will Celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
