Louis Sebastian Kakuk, age 91, a resident of the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at this residence.
Louis was born on August 16, 1930, in Two Rivers, son of the late Louis A. and Magdalen (Mandek) Kakuk. After his mother died when he was five-years old, his father remarried to his next mother Mary (Yindra) Kakuk. His middle name was derived by him naming himself after his grandfather Sebastian Mandek. Louis had an exceptionally close relationship with his maternal grandparents’ family. Louis served in the United States Army, in Korea, serving from August 1952 until his honorable discharge on July 14, 1954. On July 9, 1955, he was married to the former Jeanette A. Thielbar at Crown Point, IN. Louis was an aircraft mechanic working for Kakuk Aviation, then later he took care of the Manitowoc Company’s aircrafts at the Manitowoc County Airport.
Survivors include his wife: Jeanette Kakuk, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert (Cheryl) Kakuk, rural Mishicot, Scott (Barbara) Kakuk, Manitowoc; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Lillian Kakuk, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons and one daughter-in-law: Paul (Loree) Kakuk, Louis J. Kakuk, and Daniel Kakuk; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Frank Kakuk, John (Diana) Kakuk; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Rose (Duke) Duprey, Elizabeth (Boyce) Sloatmaker.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday June 14, 2022 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th Street, Manitowoc. Deacon Alan Boeldt will officiate with burial of his cremated remains to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00pm. Following the burial relatives and friends are invited to the Four Seasons Restaurant, 3950 Calumet Ave, Manitowoc for continued fellowship and lunch.
