Marilyn M. Wazny (Waz), age 78, of Manitowoc passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Marilyn was born July 17, 1946 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Herman and Arlene (Skubal) Roepke. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary and TPA (Travelers Protective Association).
Marilyn worked at several nursing homes in the Manitowoc/Two Rivers area. She enjoyed the nursing field of work, but later took on a cashier position at Larry’s Shell and then Bubba’s Place that she loved doing very much. She enjoyed her part-time bartending job at the VFW, along with helping in the kitchen on Friday night for the fish fry.
She enjoyed the little things in life. When she clocked out from her 3rd shift cashier job, she would then take 2 of her grandkids to school. There were many grandkids’ games of hockey, baseball, and soccer that she would attend.
Marilyn enjoyed family get togethers, that usually included barbecues and bonfires.
As some knew her as Marilyn, others only knew her as “Waz.” When her children brought their friends over “Ma Waz” became another catchy name of hers!
She was a huge fan of Elvis and The Los Angeles Rams. She was not a huge fan of house pets, but would help family members in a pinch.
Survivors include her children: Belinda Ryan; Jeff Wazny (Connie Roedig); Cheryl (Doug) Schreiber. Four grandchildren: Joshua Junk, Ryan Hynek, Lindsey Hynek and Cody Wazny. One great grandchild: Addison Junk. One brother: Wayne Roepke and other relatives and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Herman & Arlene Roepke, one brother Ronald Roepke and other relatives.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025 at the Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, Pfeffer Funeral Home location (928 S. 14th St.). Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Special thanks to Manitowoc Health and Rehab Center & Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their care and compassion.
