Marjorie “Marge” Schaus, age 84, of Manitowoc passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026 in Manitowoc.
Marge was born March 5, 1942 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Windus) Handl. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the Class of 1960. On November 26, 1960 she was united in marriage to Russell L. Schaus. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1989. Marge worked at Stangel’s Super Valu, Krueger International, Walgreens & Cook’s Corner. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on walks with her dogs Sport & Harper, crocheting, gardening & backyard birding.
Survivors include her children Kim (Wayne) Schermetzler, Jack (Amy) Schaus, her grandchildren Brett Ospedale, Jacob (Shanon) Schermetzler, Carissa (Michael) Richter, Missy Schaus, Jessi (James) Moffatt, Christina (Jacob) Schuster, Dakota (Sadie) Schaus, 12 great grandchildren, a sister Lois Holst, a sister-in-law Judy Handl, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marge was preceded in death by her parents Walter & Dorothy Handl, her husband Russell Schaus, one son Todd Schaus, one sister Darlene Dworak & brother-in-law Fritz Dworak, one brother Skip Handl, and a family friend Dora Rosik.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, 928 S. 14th St., Manitowoc. Rev. Neil Piepenburg will officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 1:00 p.m.
